Acorn Recycling has recently expanded its capabilities in
solid-liquid separation, beyond sludge dewatering technologies, to
include state of the art micro-filtration and ultra-filtration systems.
These systems can be developed to treat a range of waters from high
solids effluents to low solids potable water purification.
Acorns micro-filtration drum filter is a superbly efficient piece of
equipment for the removal of particles from waters.
Filtering intake water from streams and lakes for municipal and
industrial water supply systems.
Polishing effluent from municipal waste water treatment works.
This Drum-filter can also replace primary or secondary clarifiers.
Food processing industries are using the Drum-filter for
treatment of waste water and process water.
Other examples include; filtering transport water in plastic
industries, purification of scrubber water in power plants, and
treatment of mine waters.
Acorn recently commissioned a drum-filter for the treatment of
iron rich groundwater from a construction site in Dublin. After
setting up an appropriate coagulant dosing system it is now treating
100 cubic meters per hour of water to the desired standard.
Ultra-filtration
Ultra-filtration is ideal for the removal of contaminants and
harmful biological agents from water. Its biggest application is use
in treating water intended for human consumption. This membrane
filtration technologies are capable of removing Cryptosporidium,
Bacteria (6 log), Viruses (4 log) and metal oxides such as of
Manganese and Iron.
